Shirt/Tie combination help needed for prom...?

I'll be wearing a black suit to my prom and I need help with my shirt and tie combination. FYI, I'm brown, since not all colors suit all skin tones. I was considering a lavender ( http://cdn.sparkart.net/fivefourclothing/content/photos/1261620359.25161.12591735208622Barker_Lavendar_Front.jpg ) <--- just so u know what it looks like, not that exact shirt. A lavender shirt and a lavender tie to go with it or a black tie. Also, a blue shirt and a blue tie or a blue shirt and a black tie.

These are my four options, please help me pick the best combination from these choices. If you have any recommendations, then first let me know which is the best from my considerations and then list your suggestion and give a reason why its better. Please don't just state your recommendation.

I don't have a date so I don't have to match.

i would go with the lavender shirt and lavender tie because the y will stand out from the black suite, match each other and look good against your skin.

Do not have a tie the same color as your shirt. I will look really awkward. I personally love purple/lavender and would probably do that with a black tie. There will be lots of different guys wearing blue shirts, so a lavender shirt will make you look unique and better.

If I had to choose from the ones you listed I'd go lavender shirt/black tie. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of guys will be wearing the blue shirt/black tie combo, It's a classic combination. I would say try not to wear the same color shirt & tie together, it can look pretty good sometimes, but I find the suit always looks better if the tie looks deliberately chosen. I do have a suggestion though, have you thought about trying red on for size? If you get the chance, you should definitely try on a dark red shirt with either a burgundy or black tie. Most guys will either be wearing a black tie, or attempting to match their date's colors. If you think about the types of colors prom dresses most often come in, you can help give your look an extra pop factor by avoiding those colors, try stuff like the aforementionned dark red, muted or dark greens, and even an orange. Ties that have patterns on them look awesome and will probably be few and far between as well, so keep those kinds of things in mind when you are making the final decision. If you would like your eyes to stand out more I would suggest looking at a color wheel and choosing the color opposite your eye-color. PS: make sure you have a pocket square that matches your tie color, (it doesn't have to be exactly the same material/pattern etc.) it really pulls the suit together.

i think the blue shirt and black tie would work out nicely..

A light blue or lavender would be good, with tan pants would work. With a grey tie with stripes. If you have a lavender shirt then small green stripes that criss cross can be complementing to your skin.

Hope this helps!

I would go with the blue shirt and a back tie so the colors dont clash. if you did the lavender shirt people will think ur goin 2 church. plus if u wear blue and black peps will notice u cuz those colors scentifficly attract peps 2 look and so some 1 might ask u 2 dance. so remember blue shirt black tie... but black shirt blue tie would look good 2 but u didnt say it was an option so go with blue shirt black tie :)

A lavender shirt and black tie will coordiante well with a black suit - so to will the blue shirt and black tie.
If this is prom then why not choose a bow tie - it's more formal.

I think a lavender shirt and a black tie would look very nice. purple is my favorite color (:
But for prom, red is always a really nice color. you can't go wrong with red.
But if you have a date, color code with your date, and try to match her dress.
have fun at prom!

It really depends on what your date is wearing. Coordinate with her and have your tie match her dress. Then that leaves the shirt for you and her to decide what looks best. The link was a little screwy for me, so I didn't have the chance to look at it.
