I'm getting my first tattoo?
First off, let me start off by saying I am a sixteen year old female, but I am mature for my age. I get straight A's in honors classes, I have 18 piercings, my parents are tattooed, and have given me permission to get this tattoo. I understand tattoo's a permanent, and should not be taken lightly. I have done very extensive research on all you need to know about getting a tattoo, finding a shop/artist. I have also found a shop, and a possible artist. I have been thinking about what to get for about six years now. I know what I want, I but I cannot draw to save my life, I took a picture close to what I want that took me age to find, I also wrote the alternations I would like done to the tattoo design. I talked to the owner of the tattoo shop I have selected, I explained I want this tattoo to be perfect, I also explained that I do not want this tattoo just to have a tattoo, and every little detail about it as a deeper meaning than most can see, but I know their significance and that is all that matters. He was shocked with my responsibility and attitude of the situation, but this tattoo means a lot to me, it is unique, and very meaning full, and the design must be just right before it goes on my body forever. The tattoo artist has my name and number, he told me that they will see what they can do to my design and get back to me, they also said they have a guest tattooist coming to their shop in a couple of weeks, whom they say my tattoo design and every thing would be perfect for him.
I was planning on getting my tattoo done in September for my 17th birthday, also because summer would be pretty much over, meaning the sun and swimming would not be an issue for my new tattoo.
But, if a guest tattooist is coming in a couple of weeks, and would be able to do it the best, I would like to jump on the opportunity.
The tattoo will be on left back shoulder/shoulder blade.
It will be fairly big for detail.
Any advice you would like to give me on getting my first tattoo would be MUCH appreciated, personal experiences would be lovely as well.
Also I want it to have a lot of color, if that means anything.
Any last things I should know about getting a tattoo. specially in the summer time?

I just got a tattoo so I actually have a paper on some of this aftercare stuff still.
When you first get it done you're supposed to just use a+d ointment on it. I don't think you're supposed to use sunscreen, and you're not supposed to go swimming for about 3 weeks after. You can get it wet, just don't like drown or soak it. After that it's fine and you can wear sunscreen (they suggest spf 55 or higher) and swim all you want.
So if you're willing to wait 3 weeks and not swim or have it really uncovered, then you'll be fine. Talk to your parents about waiting or doing it with someone who may be the best to do it. I think this might be a good opportunity, but I totally respect that you'd be willing to wait a few more months for it. That almost makes me want to tell you not to wait. But again, it depends if you plan or swimming/sunning for 3 weeks after.
