Does it hurt to have your tongue pierced?

Well, im thinknig of getting my tongue pierced in a few weeks and I was wondering how much it hurts? I've had my nose pierced and that didn't really hurt, it was just a little pinch, so for those who have had their noses pierced, does the tongue hurt more or less? Thanks for the help. Oh, the aftercare of having your tongue done would help aswell. Thanks x

Ouch. I wouldn't - why do that?

I got mine pierced back in october :) It hurts a tiny bit but more after you get it done. Mine bled extremely badly because I have a shorter and thicker tongue. If you have a long tongue swelling is a little

For aftercare you must wash your mouth after eat, drink, smoke, anything. You can't have oral sex and you really can't do kissing that much either. You have to wash it out with either sea salt which you buy the formula for about 20 dollars I think (but I don't know if it's for your mouth: I made my own with sea salt that my sister had gotten at the store). You also need to make sure your balls are tight on each end as well. The bar will be larger to accommodate swelling so in 3-4 weeks you can go back and change it.

I have my Monroe done right now (along with my tongue and belly button. I had both sides of my lips pierced (snakebites) ). And the woman who did it put it a bar that was too small and it kept breaking off (the jewel) so I had to go back and get a larger ball. Piercings don't completely heal for sometimes months or even a year (depending on the piercing).

For me, the actual piercing part didn't hurt. I know that I didn't even realize it was pierced until he told me to check it out. It's the swelling that comes with it over the next few days that hurts.

i got mine done in december.
the needle doesnt hurt much.
pushing the jewelry in hurts more than the needle.
the whole thing hurt wayyy less that i would have ever thought.

the only think that bugged me was about 2 weeks after i had it done, my salivary glands acated up and swelled because there was a foreign object in my mouth.
but i had a great experience and i would highly recommend you get it done. just make sure you go to a good piercer

I've had my tongue pierced since i was 15; now I'm 23 and still have it.

It didn't hurt me but yet i have a high pain threshold.
It goes through muscle ( as the tongue is one large muscle)
They don't go through any veins so don't worry about that; as some people are scared that they'll pierce through a vein and bleed to death.
When getting pierced it feels like when you bite your tongue... but only for a moment.

After care consists of mouth wash... and normal dental hygiene.

here's a site about tongue piercing after care :

My friend said that it didn't hurt at all putting it in. But the day after it was really swollen and uncomfortable and he could only eat Popsicles for like a week (I might be exaggerating that, not sure lol) and I forget what the aftercare was.

Oh dang, I'd imagine that would hurt because your tongue is such a sensitive spot, but I've never had it done. Also, because tongues are in the mouth, I'm sure it's a spot very prone to infection because of all the wetness and bacteria in your mouth. Just something to think about.
